Recently Bath Ales have just completed the installation of a state-of-the-art solar array on the roof of its Hare Brewery, in Warmley, near Bath. The initiative is part of the brewery’s ongoing commitment to green brewing and sustainability.
Some two years ago Proteus Industrial Switchgear provided two special mains electrical switch boards for the brewery, each with 630 amp MCCB incomers and 12 way MCCB bus bars and it was to Proteus again that they turned to provide the necessary switchgear for the solar arrays.
Main installation contractors ZLC Energy Ltd of Liskard fitted 892 solar panels each producing 280W of power and contributing to an overall output of 250kW.
Senior Engineer and Project Manager for ZLC, Chris Cowap said, “The Proteus factory was very helpful as we amended a couple of times what we needed which reduced the amount of equipment that we finally required. They supplied a 6 way panel board complete with a 400 amp incomer to allow three 80kW systems to regenerate back into the old panel.”
Proteus as a British manufacturer, based in Telford have specialised for over 25 years in supplying customised panel boards all fully compliant to BS 61439 Parts 1&2.
“The modular nature of the existing switchgear”, continued Chris, “made it simple to add on the panel for the PV all of which we are very pleased with”.
