Conversation Corner – Cory Ledgister
Spencer Yates2022-09-06T13:36:19+00:00Cory has recently celebrated his 5 years’ service with Proteus Switchgear. Cory began working for Proteus in 2017 on a management trainee programme and since then became our commercial manager before more recently becoming the assistant factory manager for Proteus Consumer. Not only is he a friendly face round the factory but also has a wealth of industry and product knowledge. We sat down with Cory in Conversation Corner to discuss his time so far at Proteus.
1. What was your first job?
I was a shop assistant in Kwik Save
2. Are you a tea or a coffee person?
I’m mainly a coffee person but I do like an earl grey
3. Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
My hobby is running. I really enjoy running and am running the Berlin Marathon on the 25th September
4. What’s the top destination on your must-visit list?
It would have to be Jamaica as that’s where my family originate from and I’ve never been
5. If you could invite four celebrities to a dinner party, who would they be?
For the controversy Ricky Gervais, for the intellect Russell Brand and also he’s a bit crazy, for more insults Jimmy Carr and finally might as well have Dave Chappelle for more controversy
6. What’s your guilty pleasure?
I love cooking programmes like Bake Off and Hungry For It. I could watch them for hours
7. Who has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?
My Mum. She taught me you have to get on with things. She used to say, ‘If it goes wrong, has anyone died?’ and when nothing bad did happen it taught me that it’s ok to make mistakes as long as you learn from them
8. If you were stuck on an island with three colleagues, who would you want with you?
I’d have Shane for his character, I need someone with a sensible head so I’d take Pete as he’s the most sensible person I know, and Darren as he’s a real grafter and he’d be able to solve any problems
9. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learnt whilst working at Proteus?
Hard work really does pay off
10. If your life here at Proteus was a movie, who would play you as the leading character?
I’d love to have Denzel Washington, I’m not saying we look the same, but I love him as an actor and I feel it’d be quite gritty.
