The office-to-residential trend occurring at Old Trafford, Manchester continues with Marcol’s 100,000 sq ft Westpoint development. Only two miles from the city centre Westpoint is a local landmark and has its own multi-storey car park.
Appointed as electrical installation contractors for this out-of-town office-to-resi installation, Central Electrical NW Ltd, turned to CEF Trafford Park for support on the project. Looking to the operations that make up the Installation Materials Division, the branch contacted Proteus Switchgear who carried out a site visit to tender for the main incoming distribution boards to be supplied by the industrial switchgear factory of Telford. The 316 apartments all required consumer units which were supplied by Proteus of Redditch, which were pre-fitted with 7x RCBOs at the factory, leaving the contractor to only mount and connect up. For cable containment Tamlex steel cable tray was used throughout the building and M2
wiring accessories provided the decorative wiring accessories as the finishing touches in each apartment. Taken from the five decorative metal plate finishes available, the brushed stainless steel range was chosen with matching switches. “Having direct contact with the manufacturers from IMD,” said Nathan Quinlan, director of Central Electrical, “was a great help in obtaining the correct materials and coordinating deliveries”
