Originally built in 1879, over the years the South Parade pier in Southsea has suffered many misfortunes including two significant fires, various closures and many changes of ownership. Currently the new ownership have been determined to restore the seaside attraction to its former glory, including a 275 seater restaurant, an ice cream parlour and gourmet sandwich bar.
Following a visit to the Proteus Switchgear factory in Telford, electrical installation engineers, Vintas Ltd of Portsmouth were able to specify exactly what they needed: a Pro800 MCCB panel board, with front access cabling, built to BSEN61439-2, IP3X, Form 3b type 2 group mounted segregation.
A 630A S.S.E metering CT chamber connected to a 630A MCCB main incomer was agreed which fed a 6 and 12 way TP busbar to give 18 way triple pole ways up to 250A. Four of the MCCB’s fitted were provided with MID approved kWh meters. A Type 2 surge arrestor was fitted to give protection against mains surges.
