RES Units – Bespoke EV distribution
We have designed and manufactured two RES units for bespoke EV distribution, one in a metal enclosure and the other in an IP enclosure. The main purpose of the units is to speed up the EV installation process. By having the units pre-assembled it allows the EV installing engineer to carry just one box in their van as opposed to all the individual components such as cables, conduit, glands, RCBOs etc. therefore saving space. As well as the main purpose which is to save time upon installation, allowing the engineer to go from one install a day to two whilst also offering standardisation of installation quality.
Both units are comprised of a 40A, 30mA Type A DP RCBO device (suitable for powering a 7.2kW car charger) plus the following conduit and cables pre-installed:
- 6mm2 6181Y double insulated tails, grey/brown and grey/blue – for connection to terminal blocks usually adjacent to the meter
- 6mm2 6194X single insulated earth – for connection to main earth terminal adjacent to the meter
- 10mm diameter flexible conduit – to allow the engineer to feed data through for smart functionality of the charger
- 25mm diameter flexible conduit – to house all the above, provide additional protection and make the job neater overall
